About Køges Kost Koncept

Køges Kost Koncept is a fitness center that focuses on personal training and dietary advice, but does not offer memberships without personal training, as is known from regular gyms and large fitness chains. Køges Kost Koncept has its address in Herfølge, Denmark and their team consists of highly educated coaches, each with their own specialty, but who are all experts within weight loss, rehabilitation and health in general.

The Problem

Køges Kost Koncept's former mobile app and web administration was a subscription-based platform which contained a great selection of features and seemed the right choice initially. But over time, the solution turned out to have fundamental flaws, which ultimately required the use of other third-party software to achieve the desired outcome. Although Køges Kost Koncept had managed to get the company behind the service to implement some of the missing functionality, it often became a long and tedious process, and not all inquiries were answered. In addition, the app could not be displayed in Danish, but only in English.

Another headache for Køges Kost Koncept was that their booking system was handled by yet another subscription-based platform, and integration with the above-mentioned service was not possible due to incompatibility. In the end, this meant that two systems had to be maintained, causing increased salary-expenses due to extra work.

The Solution

Over two rounds of development, Manao Software delivered a comprehensive and tailored solution consisting of a mobile app for members and a web administration with integrated member management, booking and calendar functions for administrators and coaches.

Throughout the planning phase, an important criterion for Køges Kost Koncept was how functionality and workflows could be simplified, and help a coach spend less time in front of the computer, and more time with his client. With the new web administration, a coach could more quickly build tailored diet and workout plans and publish them in the app for their individual clients, as well as coach and answer questions in real time with the solution's chat feature.

An important aspect of Køges Kost Koncept was the ability to keep its members engaged through push notifications, in an effective and useful way, but still without a member feeling spammed. The solution was the implementation of a preference filter combined with notification types, where the member could opt out from receiving notification of specific categories, due to lack of interest, but would still receive important information about rescheduling or cancellations etc.

The absolute highlight of the whole development was the completion of the booking and calendar system. With the launch, an important milestone was reached where member management and booking were linked and members were now able to book and change appointments with their coach, directly from the app in real time. A booked appointment was now instantly confirmed and added to both the member's and coach's calendar, fully automated and without any manual checks required by staff. Furthermore, it was now possible to limit what services a member could book via a subscription management, which was a shortcoming in the old solution and thus a cost on the bottom line, when cross-checking was not done correctly

Manao Software developed and delivered the Kost Koncept mobile app over two rounds, and it was received with enthusiasm by the members of Køges Kost Koncept, and to great joy for the owners Martin and Kathrin, who saw it as the beginning of a new era for their business.
