In a nutshell, Manao Software is an expat-owned and managed software development outsourcing company located in Chiang Mai, Thailand. That means you get a Western style experience with the cost savings of South East Asia. You can think of us as a boutique software house: You won't get bargain basement prices, but you will get remarkable value and quality, and no headaches.

Narrow Focus

Our strategy is to focus on a very small number of technologies and do them very well, rather than be a jack of all trades and master of none. For web development we focus on the Microsoft technology stack and we are a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner company. For that reason, we don't offer PHP, Java, Ruby, or other web development services. For mobile development our focus is only native iOS, native Android, and React Native.

We have been in business since 2007. We are a mature and financially healthy mid-sized company which grows each year at a stable pace. We have a low staff turnover rate and we value long term business relationships. We have completed numerous projects and the know how and expertise we have built up is ready to be applied to your next project.

How it All Began

During his university years in Denmark, Christopher Mosses developed a strong passion for travel and adventure. Every summer break would be spent backpacking through Asia, with six unplanned weeks at a time, exploring Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, and of course Thailand. Somehow, Thailand was the one country that kept him coming back again and again. It felt like destiny.

After completing a Master's degree in Computer Science and working for a year as a programmer at a Danish software house, Christopher moved to Thailand at the age of 26 and founded Manao Software in 2007. Armed with just a suitcase, a laptop, and a one-way flight ticket, it was a leap of faith that he has never regretted.

Starting in a small office with bad plumbing and occasional blackouts, Manao Software has since grown to become one of the biggest software houses in Chiang Mai and now employs 80 staff.

Core Values

One of the greatest barriers experienced by companies that want to outsource software development is communication. Mutual understanding is the key to successful collaboration, and it won't work if there is a "just smile and nod" mentality towards unclear specifications or instructions. At Manao Software we're not afraid to ask again if we need to.

We understand that clients often have quality issues when outsourcing work to India or other low-cost outsourcing areas. In fact, that's often the main reason they are coming to us. We are not a code factory that mindlessly churns out software. We build quality into every level, from well thought out software architectures, to clean and maintainable code, to exact graphic designs, and our clients can tell the difference.

We have the right procedures, tools, and know how to work in a professional way that makes you confident that you can count on us. Data is backed up, source code is stored in an advanced source control system, and security exists at multiple levels. We log time down to the minute and use task tracking software so that we never drop the ball.

You are the expert in your domain, and we respect your expertise. Just as we treat our clients with respect, we also show respect to each other. Every employee deserves dignity and recognition, and disrespect towards others is not tolerated.
