About Heimstaden Danmark

Heimstaden is one of Europe’s largest residential property companies with over 150,000 properties in 10 different countries. They buy, develop and manage rental properties in Denmark – both newly built and established, with leases for private and commercial use.

The Problem

Put in simple terms, Heimstaden employees rely on an operations manual. In the early stages of the manual, the goal was to ensure the right framework for processes and workflows. The intention was to reduce the workload within the company, avoiding conflicts and misunderstandings that resulted in unnecessary costs. The content of the manual, however, was in the form of a PDF, which was clumsy to distribute among employees, due to its big file size. Admins struggled to make sure that the latest version was available to the employees and had trouble keeping track of exactly who had access to the manual. 

The Solution

Heimstaden Danmark developed a simple, yet effective solution – a mobile app and a web administration. Via the web administration, an admin can upload the operations manual in the form of a PDF, accessible through their mobile app. Exclusively developed for the iOS platform, the app was developed in the Flutter framework. An important aspect was that the manual was locked behind a login. The login page for both the web administration and the mobile app, were integrated with the organization’s Azure Active Directory, where all employees’ user roles and permissions are managed. It was essential for Heimstaden Danmark’s IT department to be able to quickly assign and remove an employee’s access to the web administration.

In addition, the mobile app includes several minor features, e.g., checklists which previously had to be printed out, a time-consuming task. It is now possible for the user to work with checklists directly in the app.

Heimstaden used Manao Software to develop an internal app to increase efficiency and information across departments. Manao Software has been a good partner throughout the development process. The solution has helped Heimstaden to streamline an important part of the company’s workflow, which ultimately has had a positive effect on the bottom line.
